Newsy is a video news service founded in 2008 and based in Columbia, Missouri. It serves a national digital audience with a revolutionary, curated approach to storytelling by engaging millennials through a variety of mediums such as Newsy.com, mobile apps, and apps for OTT viewing on Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Shortly after Newsy was founded, Centennial Investors found themselves intrigued by Newsy’s unique business model and affiliations with the University of Missouri’s Reynolds Journalism Institute. Centennial Investors moved to provide generous financing for the project, as well as consultation to help steer Newsy through the turbulent times associated with being a news startup in the midst of the financial crisis in 2008.

The partnership with Centennial Investors proved to be valuable for both parties. Newsy continues to expand as one of the few news sources able to engage the millennial generation, and was acquired by the E.W. Scripps Company in early 2014.
